Robert Zemeckis to Direct The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane (EXCLUSIVE)
Project is based on 2006 novel

Robert Zemeckis is taking “The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane” at New Line, coming on board to direct the adaptation of Kate DiCamillo’s novel about the adventures of a porcelain rabbit.
Project has been set at New Line for the past seven years with Wendy Finerman producing. Zemeckis’ Imagemovers partners Steve Starkey and Jack Rapke will also produce.
Jeff Stockwell has written the adaptation of the popular children’s novel.
“Edward Tulane,” published in 2006 by Candlewick Press, follows a vain china rabbit given to a 10-year-old girl in the 1930s who enjoys a pleasant life until falling overboard from the Queen Mary. He loses his vanity as he spends 297 days on the ocean floor until a storm frees him, leading to a succession of owners including a fisherman’s wife, a hobo and his dog and a girl with pneumonia.
Zemeckis directed “Flight” and recently became attached to direct Universal’s “Marwencol,” a real-life drama based on the 2010 documentary.
