Then I Met You UK Launch: News, Reviews And Prices

The Korean culture didn’t just influence Charlotte’s deep passion for skincare but she also shared how she learned about JEONG. It’s a Korean word that is hard to describe, but the definition of this is a deep and meaningful connection you could have with someone or something. In fact, that's the reason behind the long brand name.
Charlotte chose to create a phrase and she wanted the line to be rooted in the concept of charm. “Then I Met You is a phrase that makes you think about someone or something that changed your life for the better. It’s kind of romantic and I wanted my line to stand out. I felt like no-one has ever really evoked an emotional response in this way,” she says.
As well as being aesthetically pleasing, Then I Met You is set to change the way we nurture our skin. The range transcends our basic idea of self-care, going deeper, to focus a little extra effort in the right places and spark real change to your skin with natural, premium ingredients.
Charlotte debunks some of our skincare questions:
Question: Why should we double cleanse?
Answer: "Discovering double cleansing really changed the game for me. Just cleansing with an oil cleanser and then a water-based cleanser really does remove all those impurities, even things that you don't see with your naked eye. It also prevents premature aging and breakouts because all of those free radicals’ damage can occur from just pollution sitting on your skin. So if you're not washing your skin proactively and thoroughly, then you actually lead to a double whammy of skin chaos." (Charlotte Cho)
Question: Difference between toner and essence?
Answer: "K-Beauty brought to the table really hydrating toners that are all about resetting your pH, but also providing hydration to prep your skin for the rest of your skincare routine. Essences are typically also deeply hydrating. The different between them really depends on the brand, the product and the ingredients. Every toner isn't exactly the same. Sometimes you could use a toner and skip the essence because they're both the same. For our brand I wanted to make each step intentional and distinct. Essences typically have a majority of fermented ingredients in the base of the product. On your skin’s turnover every 28 days, fermented ingredients are used to help speed up cellular turnover for brighter complexion." (Charlotte Cho)
Question: Is polyglutamic acid the new hyaluronic acid?
Answer: "Yes. I’d say so. Polyglutamic acid is sort of like hyaluronic acid and I know everyone loves hyaluronic acid, but this stuff is actually four times more powerful." (Charlotte Cho)
Question: What do peptides do and do we need them?
Answer: "Peptides [the building blocks of essential proteins needed for healthy skin] are very powerful, but they're often infused in formulas that are heavy. When you think about people who want peptides, they're generally dealing with ageing as a top concern. We found that peptides actually don't deliver well to the skin in thick formulas that are very emollient. Very heavy emollients can sit on the surface of your skin and don't penetrate deeply enough to hydrate, so it's best to infuse peptides into less emollient formulations." (Charlotte Cho)
