Jennifer Lopez's tuxedo nails are the nail tailoring we need| Glamour UK

Another day, another mani trend to have on your radar. This time it's the turn of tuxedo nails, which celebrity nail artist, Tom Bachik, introduced on his Instagram grid.

Before you start to envision a teeny, tiny bow tie and buttons sketched down the centre of nails (which tbf does come up when you Google the trend), Tom's take is inspired by the black and white colour palette of a white shirt and tailored blazer. But the design is translated in a much sleeker way.

On 26 July, he shared a throwback picture of a manicure inspired by one of his celebrity clients, JLo. In the split photo, one image showed Jennifer in a black and white swimsuit divided down the centre. The other image showed a complementary monochrome nail design created by Tom to match. He remixed a classic French tip by switching out a bare pink base for black and extending the white tip wider for extra drama.

And while the mani works great with Jen's black and white swimsuit, it's a perfectly tailored mani to pair with a tuxedo evening look, too, which JLo's been known to rock.

It works seamlessly, with any monochrome outfit, whether it's black tailored trousers and a white t-shirt, or a black midi dress. Or, since the colours create a neutral manicure, they won't clash with bolder, colourful outfits either.

Clearly a fan of black and white tuxedo nails, Tom followed up with a post on 27 July of a mani he created for another celeb client, Camila Cabello, with the caption “French Tuxedo 🤍🖤”. In it, Tom divided the nail in two down the centre and on one half he created a traditional French tip, while the other half was opaque black.

We love a trend with leeway for a little remixing, so we're excited to see how Tom will remix tuxedo nails next.
